    Question '89-'93 Alternators

    How many amps do the stock alternators put out on a 89-93 5.0L mustang?

    I think it is around 65. Not for sure though.

    Between the two of us it looks like we've got ~~~75amps. It may vary with the options of the car. Typically they put in better alts when you have AC and more power options. However, the real important number is what it puts out around idle. Those 85 amp alts may only spit out 30 or so down low. especially if it is underdriven. I know my powermaster will put out 140 peak and ~85 at idle assuming it is spininning at 2100 RPM. 3:1 pulley ratio.

    heh, actually ya they are 75amp, atleast that's what I've always read.

    How many superchargerhelp guys do it take to calculate the amperage output of an alternator? LOL

    LOL, actually if you go to a autoparts store they typically carry a couple of different amperages with 85-90 being the tops for the 2G alt, if memory serves me correctly......
