Looks good!!!! :) When are you going to launch it on the "brake"? :teeth:

It sounded like it skipped, or something on the 1-2????

Next time out I will launch it on the brake. I was working out some chassis issues so I kept it on the footbrake.

On that run I actually slammed the shifter from first right through to third and just kept going.

Wow! Was that the only pass you made? I wonder what it will run with a good launch and all "three" gears! LOL!

How is the lowend with that blower?

I've sold my Novi and am considering many blowers right now. Not sure what to buy.

    • I have a line on a Driver side NOVI 2000 kit with cogs

    • Brand New D2R

The issue with the D2R is if it is strong and how well will it work on my setup (hydraulic roller--6500 shift, etc) Also will need inlet and discharge tubes, plus bypass so the cost will go up for the D2R.

Ultimately, I think the D2R will go faster, but not sure?

I'd like to get down in the mid 8's

I think we will find out the next time out what it will run under a more ideal situation.

Low end is enough for me to handle. Hammers me pretty good and 60's are in the 1.4's on the footbrake. My slicks have probably seen better days though as they are almost out of rubber and getting on 3 years old now. Time to replace.

The D-2R is pretty strong since it uses the D-3 series bearings, as opposed to the D-2 which has the smaller bearings.

Mine is a hydraulic roller also and I will be shifting at 6600 with the cog setup. Was going 7000 on the serpentine but I know there was belt slip with it.

I am pretty sure the D-2R will outperform a 2000 given the same setup and spinning both to their sweet spot. Mid 8's should be possible with the right combination of things. Mine could use some upgrades at this point and mid 8's could be achieved without a problem. My heads are some old tech from TEA and they should be upgraded as well as maybe a more agressive solid roller. The blower has the flow though.

What pulley setup are you using? The max impeller speed rating is 53,000---right? I'm wondering how hard you can spin these and how high I would be able to (considering the fact that I don't have an intercooler).

    ......not yet that is ;-)

I don't have the pulley numbers handy but will post them tomorrow. I set it up to max the blower (53,000) at 6800 on the motor so I will shift at 6600 at first to see how high the RPM goes between shifts. I don't think the blower ever saw max RPM with the serpentine setup but the new ET's and MPH should prove that one way or the other. Talk to you tomorrow.

WOW!! I'm looking at a setup that has the same pulleys! Our combos are very similar so it might work well. The only issue is I"m not intercooled yet. Have you measured your inlet temps before/after the intercooler?

Have you leaned on the tune at all yet? What is your boost, timing, and air/fuel set at? Thanks for all the info---Take care and as always, YOUR CAR IS BAD ***!!!! ;-)

You can run fine without the intercooler but you must be careful with fuel and timing. Never, never, never go into too much boost unless you are running the highest octane fuel you can buy. I run 120 octane in mine at the track but on the street it is straight 91. I NEVER get into the throttle on the street. Doing so would mean major engine work because I would melt some pistons. Even with an intercooler it would not be wise to boost the engine very much on 91 or 93 octane. That stuff is plain crap.

Inlet temps on mine at 22 lbs of boost run at around 170 degrees after the intercooler and close to 300 before the cooler.

The A/F is set at 11.5:1 and I run 20 degrees of timing at maximum boost. It is a safe tune and would keep the motor healthy for a long time like this. I will probably run a "kill" tune on one of my future outings but for now I am enjoying the ride and not worrying too much about breaking the motor.

Thanks John! :) That was where I was going to start (20 degrees total/11.5:1). You're only seeing 22psi? Wow, I thought it would be alot higher.

I'll let you know what happens. You planning on running this weekend?

That serpentine belt slips an awful lot so only 22 lbs does not surprise me. Should see 25+ with the cog setup.

Not going this coming weekend but maybe the one after.
