How would the T-trim fit do in this equation. Shouldnt it be the best of both blowers till like 6500rpms? Lots of bottom torque with lots of high pullin hp?

I have a YS on my cobra at 6800rpm it makes 25.5lbs of boost, thats with a 73/28 cogs. The only problem I am having is the teeth peeling off of the cog belt on deceleration, I need a bigger BOV. I used to have an S and a T, this YS blows them both away, its an animal after 4000rpm. The YS loves to spin.....

Well guys I have a YS trim on my 331 with a 3.33/6.87 setup. I had a Novi 1000 on it before. It made 446@5700/445@4500 on the Novi, with the YS trim it made 485@5700/453@4500 They both made about 8 lbs of boost. i really wanted to run the Vortech a bit harder but it went lean on me. Let me tell ya the YS trim feels awesome and I am sure if it would have got to 6000 it would have made the 10 advertised. The YS trim feels better all the way around over the NOVI.

There if fixed it, LOL. Yes the YS trim feels better all over than the Novi. I took all the race pullies that came with it the 3.00 upper and the 8.00 lower and switched them for the SHO kit pullies. I really love the way the vortech runs. I cant wait to get it back and get it tuned and really watch it fly.

FWIW- I sold my YSi and am going down to a T-trim. I should be up and running by mid next week. I feel the t-trim will be a better performer on my setup. I may be wrong but will know next week. I will not have dyno's however, just track times and seat of the pants feelings.

i had the ysi for a week but sent it back for another t-trim. first dyno i had with the t-trim on my 357 made 661rwhp and 589rwtq w/50lb injectors running out of fuel at 6000rpm-17 psi /8rib. current setup is cog at about 22-24psi 747rwhp and 719rwtq 75lb inj using ysi-gonzos old jms chip.75t lower/26t upper. i only spin motor to 6800rpm.

Any more info on your setup. Such as cam, tranny, heads, intake? What kind of times have you been running on your setup?

I was making 670+ at the rear tire on a 8 rib setup and 20 psi with the YSi. I feel the T-trim will do the same top end yet give me more mid and low reange power.

heads are t/w ported well,tfs-r intake, cam is comp 230i 238e 575int/595exh. 114 lobe and a tko 5 speed. no times with this combo yet. i expect mid to low nines. i did have cog belt issues but a local machine solved that with an additional idler pulley and two braces to the blower. an honest vortech rep. told me (which i already know) that the lowly little t-trim is highly underated. i make more power/tq than many with bigger blowers. can u say ys/ysi. u have to be going at least 85-90 before u can floor the car. i only use av-gas. 28 x 12.5 et streets, 355 gears.

Yeah I can't wait for my t-trim to get here. I will be running a 10 rib setup but had a custom made 8.6" crank pulley made so I'll be ruuning a big 3.13 or 3.33 up top for now. So I should have little issues with slippage. Plus I will have an aftercooler as well. I should easily see ~20psi. I have a Lunati cam, not as big as yours with trick flow heads that have also been ported and polished. I now have an AOD and run a 3.55 gear as well. I am running the 28" MT DR's and hope to see some upper 9's with this setup.

    Thanks,

    For your input.

Well I have the aftercooler in place no water yet, and am only making 15 psi at 5800 RPM's, the blower is maxed out due to the pulley sizes. I have a larger one ordered to max it out at 6600 rpm's. So far it does feel a little better on the street considering 5 less psi. Not sure why it is so low though. I posted a question in the genral tech (DOWN-sized). Maybe some can chime in there or here?

I won't get to the track for another two weeks though as I am out of town next week. As this will be the true test.

    75t and 26t at 6800 put the t at 67,000 rpm's. That is 12,000 rpm's over spun with Cogs? WOW any issues??

i said the max rpm would be 6,800. i have only taken engine to 6500rpm and that was during the dyno run. car makes too much tq. i need to tell u that for the power u want that vortech aftercooler won't cut it. it will hold u back. ask vortech but talk to someone that understands racing and not someone that just wants to sell u parts. u are better off getting the mr. freeze just like i did. get this, that 747rwhp and 719rwtq was made with straight av-gas. the weather was cool, about 55deg. morning. i did not use mr. freeze on that dyno session.
