    Vortech Aftercooler questions

    Not much going on in the aftercooler section so I thoughI'd post here to get as many voiced opinions or facts as posible!

    Vortech says to run the flow from:
    water tank-->water cooler-->aftercooler-->back to tank.

    Now my car is street (~3,000 miles) and strip used (30 passes), but wouldn't it be better to run it:

    Tank--> aftercooler--> then water cooler--> back to tank. This way when you run ice in the tank that very cold water would first pass through the aftercooler and as it gets heated there then can be cooled of in the water cooler then sent back to the tank. Rather if it first goes to the water cooler first it would actually heat the cold water up since the air going over the water cooler would be warmer than the ice water, then again be warmed up in the aftercooler only again to heat the water tank more.

    Plus on the street it shouldn't effect it anyway since the water coolers ability to cool would determine the temp of the tank either way it is flowing correct.

    I just figure it would make more sense to send the coolest water to the aftercooler first then cool that water of in the water cooler befor sending it back to the water tank?

    I may be totally wrong but let me know.

    Thanks

    I tend to agree with you on that, when you have ice in the tank then it only heats it a bit going through the heat exchanger. But for street use, I think Vortech has it right. I don't know if it makes much difference though

    Yeah I don't see how running it backwards would hurt it on the street that much. But would definitly help at the track since as cold as possible of water is going through the aftercooler first.

    What if you were to use a 2 way pump? One that reverses flow, when the polarity is switched? I don't know if there is such a thing... just a thought and you could see which is more efficient just by flipping a switch. I would also mount 2 small fans in front of the heat exchanger, to keep things cool in traffic.

    Well if you did that you'd actually end up pushing the water into the tank and possibly over flowing it I'd assume since it wasn't pulling from the tank. :shocked:
