I have an F2. It is a bad hombre too. Makes 29.8lbs of boost on my 347 and I'm told by Jim Summers at ATI that it is still in "compressor surge" because the blower is making air faster than the engine can digest it.

I'm going to be ordering a D1 non self-contained blower kit in the next few weeks.

Question: Should I go with the sheetmetal intercooler?? I don't know if I will necessarily need it right now, but for $250 or whatever the add on price is, is it worth it?

    Have had

    P600
    P1-SC
    F1

Yes the sheetmetal intercooler is a must, if you are looking for the abilty to grow in the future to pretty much your hearts content. The way to do it is the first order, since that it will only be a small amount. If you wait till later you then have to try and sell your IC, and buy a Sheetmetal that goes for $$$$$ Retail. I have had a 3 core sheetmetal on mine for years, and love it! I am going to sell it for a 3.5" unit. Otherwise I would never trade her in the world.

Bill Lovelace, yes I would bet that the F2 is in surge, on a 347. The F2 can flow some massive CFM numbers. What pulley combo you got? I am assuming it is cogged.
More boost then a 20psi gauge.

Okay, so when would someone want to upgrade to a sheetmetal intercooler over the standard 3 core?

Is it less/more efficient at low boost pressure? I am only going to be running 8psi or so on my 10:1 compression motor.

I just upgraded from a P1SC to a F1 head unit, still strapping everything backtogether, figuring around 15 lbs to start, and working my way up from there.

    P1SC

Be nice if my 94GT had that much room!

Mines been on for about month and it's been a real pain to get to run. I'm pretty sure I've got some shot O2 sensors right now, it just keeps running rich all the time. After that then I'll let you know how I like it cause putting it on sure was a pain.
