Low 10sec street cars what are you using for your rear end?

    Hey guys:

I was wondering what most high horse power street cars are using for the street/strip....I am in need of axles...c-clip elims new gears and a diff or spool..

When I called the axle places they all tell me that there is no diff that can hold me hp and i would need to switch to a spool.....Spools sux on the street...is there something better?

BTW i am running 10.19's with stock axles now!! :weird:

    thanks in advance

    Mike

Detroit Locker has now handled over 1400 rwhp and will be climbing after this winter.

how is the Detroit Locker on the street.....does it come in a 31 spline?...can i buy a spool setup and replace it with the locker later? or is it something I should do all at once?

    thanks

Detroit comes in 31, 33 and I think 35 spline. You can always do things later you will just need to re-shim the install. Detroit has been used since the 60's on Race Cars, Muscle Cars and Baja Trucks. I have driven my friends Pro Street car and it makes noise in a turn to unlock but I could not feel it just could hear it.

Back before I back halfed my car I was running a 8.8 with a spool and 35 spline axles on the street. I never had an issue with the spool. I did however break 1 detroit locker and 2 eatons in a single year. Everytime I launched my car on the trans brake it would split the carrier in half. I put in the spool and never had another issue. I still don't understand how 950 RWTQ could break those high dollar components :).

Auburn Pro with 31 spline moser axels and 3.55 motorsport gear. 5 years thus far with slicks.

Most of the time was high 10's to low 11's, but 1.4x's 60's

I too will be in need of a change soon.

A ton of guys over on the Corral are running solid 10's (and some quicker) on Eaton Posi's, and they are rebuildable to boot. :) Take your choice of 31 or 33 spline too!

I have a 9" with 31 spline Strange axels & Locker. @ 10.0's & 3500 Lbs I broke the rear end (the main caps that hold the Ring Gear on). I went with a Strange spool, & stuck with the 31 Spline axels.
