I did 105 top row 95 bottom row. More now since I have 20 + psi. You might be fine with 95 top row 85 bottom row. Thats how it used to be with my 13 psi. For whatever reason (think since stud is longer) you torque more on top. Been like this for me for 5 years.
Alos slowly work up to that torque spec.
351 "stockshort block": -Vortech T-trim (21 psi), Trick Flow Heads, Lunati Cam, Weldon fuel system, Lentech AOD., 3.55 gears, 27" Hoosier QTP's, 3500# with me

You are running head bolts or head studs?

ARP Head Bolts: Edelbrock is saying 70/80 so does TFS.

My bad. I have 1/2" studs. Probably should read a little better.

Yes, that sounds about right for head bolts. You really would be better off running studs though.

I just changed out my gaskets for 9333-PT1's a couple weeks ago, and there seems to be some variance on torque specs between the ARP instructions and Felpro instructions. Assuming your using 7/16 bolts, the Felpro instructions say to torque the top bolts to 80, the bottoms to 70, but don't state what kind of lube. The ARP instructions say to torque all to 65 with ARP moly lube or 80 with 30wt oil. ARP also suggests reducing torque 5ft lbs for aluminum heads for thermal expansion. Not sure exactly what to do and it being Sunday can't call for advice, I compromised a little and torqued the tops to 70 and the bottoms to 65, using ARP moly lube on the tops and ARP teflon sealant on the bottoms. I probably exceeded the ARP yield by at least 5ft lbs on the top bolts, but so far so good with 15 lbs boost.

1990notch Michael Yount on the corral is a firm believer in arp's spec's, so i got a copy of arp's instructions and followed em to a tee. I personally don't see any problems with the way you have done yours.

Blownby no problem i figured those specs were for 351 1/2inch bolts.

Rdrunner my arp's were used once i figured i'll use one more time, besides i'll be selling everything and going down the 392/408 path soon :D hehe

    Thanks for everyone's advise ;)

Just curious, did you torque the shorter bolts less?

I did mine all the same @ 65ftlb's with ARP's Moly Lube.

To me it makes perfect sense about thermal expansion of the alum.

I guess everyone has there own way, i also confided in my uncle who's been building and racing engines longer than i've been alive, and he agreed to follow ARP's specs. i just didn't have them when i posted this thread.
