finishing my install, a question.

i'm almost done my install on my 89 hatch. i have a vortech mini race bypass valve. i was wondering if it's normal that i can suck air through vacuum fitting, and it bleeds through. does the diaphragm have to be air tight. i know the valve shuts, i just want to make sure it opens. my combo is novi 2k pass. side 8 rib. tfs topend 60lb. squirters. awaiting a dyno appointment.

well to answer my own question. i took it apart and cleaned up the flanges and used a tiny bit of rtv at the flanges and now the vacuum fitting is air tight.
