    getting an S.... or a T?

Just wondering if there is any benefit to buying a T trim over an S (minimal cost difference)for my daily driver that has all the usual mods but a stock block and internals. I suppose the next question is will it hurt at all, I know the T has bigger numbers all around but is it as good as the S down low?
    Thanks for the help.

How quick are you looking to buy?

We are getting ready to take a friends car with out-of-the-box GT40X heads, Holley intake and full exhaust with a stock cam and do a head to head with his s-trim vs my t-trim with the same pulley. Should be interesting. I will be sure to post up soon as this happens. Just trying to work out the logistics of getting eveyone available on the same day. Our local Dyno has an 8 day back up right now. (Hmmmm maybe I should look into buying a dyno. I wish.)

MeJay, what is your current setup with the T trim. Did you have an S prior?
The big question here is why did you get a T when most everyone else with a Vortech is running an S?
Is your T trim on a street car or track... how is the drivability.
Looking forward to the dyno numbers.

    Thanks.

    Why

Well I got it for a heck of a deal and knew that in the future I wanted to go 9's. Yes you can do that with an s-trim if you spin the living hell out of one but I didn't want to do that. As for my combo...it's not together yet. But I did put it on a friends 351 with out of the box TFS TW heads with Edelbrock RPM inatke and a custom cam and though we never got it to the track or dyno it was definately a strong 10 sec car. But it was a temporary thing as he has a YS he is putting on. I just wanted to test it out while I am waiting to build mine. As for streetable it is very good. Heck Ricky Best at Vortech has one in his driver with an AOD. My car should be running either this weekend or next. I still don't have my heads yet so it is going to start off as a stock bottom end with a 'F303' cam, better springs on the heads, old school ported stock intake (back when they used to cut them open, port it and weld back together) and the t-trim. Had much bigger plans but had to sell some of the other stuff do to school and family issues.

IMO...if your going to step up above the S-trim which is cappable of 1000cfm, go all the way to a YS-trim which is 1500cfm. Not a whole lot of gain from an S to a T.

    Need more input

I did talk to a few people about this and they all agreed that the drivabilty was better with a T-trim over a YS and for the numbers I was wanting it would be the better choice. I would like to see others chime in at this point to either verify or dispute this claim. If my friends YS wasn't a straight discharge it would be interesting to run it on a milder combo to see about this.

The YS is probably overkill for my application.

Why is the T so uncommon, what am I missing? Is it not worth a few bucks more than an S?

    What are your plans?

Guess that should have been my first question. What are your goals for performance and how much street time? What kind of numbers are you looking for? I think that the reasoning is just the availablity and popularity of the s-trim. The Procharger P-1SC has the same specs as the t-trim and is a very good blower also. There are some issuses to think about with the bigger blowers such as needing bigger bypass valves and loss of bottom end. Of course I havent been able to prove this yet and so until I do I say the T-trim is the one for me. The s-trim is not a weakling by any strech as I have seen them easily go deep into the 10's without pushing them too hard.

    Mike,
The car is pretty much all street use. I am looking to make as much power as the stock block and internals can take for the next year or so (400-450hp). In the future I will either upgrade to a 351 based engine (block in garage) or simply stroke my 302 while upgrading the internals. I am trying to make a single supercharger buy that will last me the longest before I need to upgrade. My only concern right now is that the T may be too big for my current setup...... if that is even possible?

Can you shoot me a list of your current mods? If you want email them that is cool. I honestly feel the t-trim is the way to go for you. I may not have alot on my car now but have been there before.
