What kind of boost should I be making?

I have a 89 5.0 with a S-trim power pipe Trickflow heads Performer rpm intake. I have a 7 inch crank pulley a a 2.95 charger pulley. I making adout 10-11 lbs. That seems kind of low. Do you think the belt is slipping. It will hold at 11lbs from about 4800 rpm to 6500. That is why I think it is slipping. How tight should the belt be?

    Thanks
    Scott

When I ran a similar setup to that, but with the stock 6.87" crank pulley, I would see 14# at around 6200 rpm. I was running 1 5/8" shorty headers with a 2.5" exhaust along with the exact same heads/intake you're running now.

I guess I will be ordering a bigger blower pulley. I want to go faster but I dont want a split block.

I also have a 2.55 blower pulley, I guess that would make 20#'s???

I'd check with the simple stuff first, like making the belt tighter and see how that does.

As for the 2.55 blower pulley, I think that'll have too much belt slip (due to its' size) to make 20# of boost. Getting past 15-16# on an s-trim seems to neccesitate cogs from my experience.

I agree w/saleen91...My exp's has been same..have ran 10rib & 2.50 still could not get much more than 16# due to belt slip...But, as he stated cogs w/and do it...any thing less than a 2.95 u get a lot of slip...
