    Timing Questions

I'll be starting my motor for the first time with a new 12lb XB-1A setup and ha some timing questions. What is a good base timing to start with? I have a Crane box with a timing retard control that is boost propotionate. I can adjust from 0 degrees to 4 degrees retard for every pound of boost, what is a good starting point for that? I have heard of people taking the timing "pill" out, what are the advantages/disadvantages of this. Thanks.

I'm a little different than most, I like a lot of initial timing for low end power.
I say set it at 12* spout-out and set your dial to 3 on pump gas.
If no detonation then go to 2 but don't go less than 1.
    I run 14* initial and I pull 1.5
