    To Quiet!!!!!!

Kinda wish that I hadn't got the SQ now, its to quiet!
I like the sound of a S/C more than I thought I would.
I get in to a lot more races w/ cars that I don't need (or want)to race because I have the Vortech sticker on the side of the car just above the Cobra , and you really can't here the S/C. :D

But there is nothing like "BOOST";)

I agree. With my Novi-1000 car you can kinda hear the whistle, it is somewhat apparent, but yet not the sound of a monster screaming s-trim mind you.

It is those helical cut gears

But you are right "BOOST" ownz!

Stangbum, How many pounds are your running your SQ-Trim at?

I've had the power pipe since day one. It's pretty obvious that I'm boosted (though that guy in the m3 had to learn the hard way :) )

I am running 8lb boost. Its basicaly the Vortech kit with the Autologic chip and MSD DIS4. but it was tuned down to make it safe. (Don't want detonation.)

If I get a AFM Powerpipe Will I have to recaliberate chip or something of that nature? recalibrate DIS-4? (i am not much of a mechanic,so forgive me for asking these questions) Will it add horsepower?

to add to the above questions.

why does it makes the blower louder, and why does it make more hp ?

i'm thinkin that a little more noise would be a good thing.

it gets louder becuase u are replacing the vortech intake tubing with somthing that is much larger and flows much better.. Same principle as installing a cold air intake, and it making the car louder. It makes more power becuase it flows better and more air then the vortech piece.. Its a 3.5-4" pipe that has few bends and allows much better airflow to the inlet of the blower. Powerpipes add about 2-3lbs of boost. Only draw back is u have to hack a hole in your fender to get it to fit..

"Powerpipes add about 2-3lbs of boost."

are you kidding !?! WOW !!!
my old stuff was 3 1/2", the maf is smaller than that. i'm going to a 4" all the way, maf will be after the blower now.

the more i learn about how this stuff works, the more i wonder how my new setup is going to work.

what size are your old pipes ?

well in my case i bought the powerpipe with the blower, so i couldnt tell u the diference with or without it, but from what ive read a powerpipe should add 2lbs of boost, or so..
The stock vortech pipe is around 3" i guess... i really cant say, becuase i dont have one laying around to check.
I would think your boost would step up with larger piping on your setup, no doubt.. But then agian u are going to an intercooler, so that alone will drop boost off a few pounds..
So by adding the larger piping u might overcome the boost drop from the intercooler.
By the way, i sent that Compressor housing out a few days ago, u should recieve it thursday.

yeah, i'm going to be running the cooler. from what i heard i was going to loose a little boost because of the cooler.

    BUT !!!

i read a post about someone who put a ATI cooler on their vortech s-10, a few years ago. it was mounted under the core support, between the frame rails = much more piping/bends, and some different intake parts.

they had "increased" boost !!! they said they had to put a larger pulley on it to hold the boost down. they didn't want to much boost on the stock engine.

why increased boost "with" a cooler ?

    my hypothisis :
when vortech engineered my kit they didn't want to much boost.
and one of the ways they choose to keep it in check was to limit air flow via smaller size piping. when they added the cooler they somehow increased the size of the piping somewhere in the system = more air/boost.

i am doing the same thing, but MUCH more efficiant. so i don't really know what to expect. but i know i'm excited over it

    .............................

    why didn't you e-mail me
i had a feeling you were going to do that, i have been keeping an eye on the mail at work :D . hopefully it will be here before sat.
    i'll let ya know .

oh-yeah. my reason for asking is : if i do loose some boost, i am looking for some ways to up it without turning up the rpms of the blower.

i will ship your curved asap, i'm sure you will have it next week.
