build a cobra engine for boost set up??

I'm considering buying and engine to play with... here is the idea. My buddy who does the work on my car (as well as his 11 sec cobra) has a friend with a 1996 cobra motor he is selling. he can get me the complete motor for $1k the motor has 70k miles and runs mint! Would it be a waste of time for me to pick up that motor, install manley forged rods/pistons, and bearing kit, with low comp pistons? I'd like to build the motor for a blower or turbo application. This would all be going in a 2003 GT. I would like to keep my GT motor stock and keep it as a back up. I wanted to build a 4v because of a few things... I like a motor that rev's! and the cobra motor does compaired to my GT. Also it seems as though you get more HP from boost as compaired to a GT. Soo would this be a total waste of my time? Is there a better way to do this? keep in mind I'm not going to touch my GT motor, and I want to build a 4v, and not spend $5k. ANY opinions would be great....thanks in advance!

Id build the 2v since when you put money into them they perform better than a stock 4v. I dont see the point in spending a grand on a perfectly good motor only to tear it down and put a bunch more money into it but thats just me. Sorry if thats not what you wanted to hear.

I personally would do the 4V. And a complete one for $1000 you know that need nothing is pretty good buy. Ported 2v heads barley keep up with stock 4V heads. And with the Cobra you get the aluminum block. AND I LOVE THE SOUND OF A TIGHTLY WOUND 4 CAM WITH A BLOWER!!! ;)
89 Coupe with parts stacked inside of it and about 30#'s of dust on it with no end in sight. :weird:

    Although I am collecting parts for a 12.5:1 393 :D

thats exactly why I want to do it. I mean yea I could go get a 2v and build it, and so what if it makes a few more hp after a good amount of money is dumped into it, buttt dont the 4v's like boost a whoooole lot better than the 2v's?? But anyways, soo is it agreed that doin the 4v would be a good idea, and not a waste of time? It seems it to me.... thanks guys
