Stuck on fuel line change out - help

The rubber fuel line between the stock filter and my t-rex pump is damaged. All I want to do is replace the hose with a new one. Looking at the existing hose, there is a metal band connecting the hose to what appears to be a platic insert leading into the filter itself. I can't figure out how to get this metal band off so that I can replace the hose. The other end of the hose is connected by a screw clamp, so that end is easy.

Is this little band permanent, or am I just lacking the correct tool? If it's permanent, do I need to buy a new filter to get this thing fixed?

I think that band is permanent (if it looks like the one on mine). Why not just snip it off and use a screw type hose clamp when you install the plastic end in the new hose?

Thanks for your help Jason. I ended up having a mechanic take care of this problem for me last weekend. He did a great job, and all is well now (actually vastle improved compared to what I had).

Gladly. But first I have to explain what the problem was. As I stated, the rubber fuel line was damaged. Actually, it had been crushed when the swaybar used it as a bumpstop (someone - not me - wasn't paying attention during the installation). This was complicated by a poorly installed auxillary filter when the SC went in; the new filter was just zip tied to the frame. My "new" mechanic undid the zip tied mess and found a bracket which he used to mount the auxillary filter directly below the primary filter. He then trimmed the existing line so that it travelled only as far as it had to to reach the filter. Now rather than serpentining around on the underside of the hatch plate (best word I can come up with), the hoses are very clean and look like a factory install. Next time I have the car up I'll take a photo and post (probably next weekend).

Oh yeah...as far as hose clamps, I can't remember now what he did. I think he used the clips that come with the new filter so that everything was hooked up as it was originally. But the picture will be worth more words than I can type
