Got my RA#, my S-trim is...
is heading back to Mecca (vortech) for a rebirth (rebuild.)
My baby hasn't been sounding too good over the past couple of weeks,
My diagnosis for needing a rebuild:
First, it is not quite as loud as a fresh s-trim, by loud i'm refering to the purr, the whine, the oh so beautiful sound we all love, the gears whine. I know the difference because i just helped my friend replace his freshly rebuilt s-trim.
Second when the blower gets heated up it sounds like a cross between the bearings of a idler pulley wearing out and a regular serpentine belt slipping. It's closer to the sound of a belt slipping, but in a lower pitch.
I have replaced all of my pulleys that have bearings, and the belts recently.
since then I have not pulled the belt off and spun the blower by hand ot see how bad the bearings are.
Luckily my friend that i helped has a spare b-trim laying around, so i don't have to be down 200hp for two weeks. But my stang has felt down on power for a while, can't wait to get it back. :D
