Is it OK to bypass blower with a shorter belt?
I'm waiting on a new vortech idler pulley for my S-Trim. In the meantime, I thought I'd use a stock belt and bypass the blower pulley and vortech idler.
I put on a stock belt yesterday, and drove around the neighborhood. Every seemed OK, but I was just wondering if there are any ill-effects of doing this. The only thing I could think of is the blower getting hot from the engine oil, without spinning -but I'm not sure if this is a concern or not.

Not a problem doing that, I usually drive my car in the winter with the belt off to lower the power but yet drive it when it is nice to keep everything lubricated. You will notice that on higher rpms it will be choking but then your using air that must pass the impeller to feed the engine.

And if you use a chip instead of a FMU you'll run a bit rich
