buying a short block or piece everything together?

Just curious, should I buy a short block already put together and ready to go , or just buy everything seperate and have a machine shop do the work?

Casue the plan right now is a Dart 331. And curious on who to go through if it would be eaiser to go with the short block. D.S.S or KC or CHP or whats about AD Performance ( i heard they have some really good deals)

And what about this Dart Sportsman Block?

keith craft quoted me $4600 for a Dart sportsman block based 331 with Eagle internals with JE 8.5:1 pistons 0 balanced and blueprinted. from what i understand the Dart sportsman is comparable to the R302. im in the same situation last saturday i broke my stock and split the block too!

Do you have a builder close to you that you trust or know has a good rep? I would have someone local do it. But that is just what I perfer.
