I have heard many mixed reviews on his pullies.
I had a friend do a same day dyno test of a stock Vortech pulley and a RR pulley resulted in no gains. The RR pulley slipped as bad as the stock Vortech pulley. This was on a 7000rpm, 306, S-trim making a incosistent 17-20psi. He will sell it to you at a discounted price. :D

Headed for the 10's fully loaded on a radial.
Im actually thinking about doing what you did, put the 8'' crank pulley and see if that does the trick.. Vortech said that will increase my boost by 2-4 lbs.. Maybe Ill purchase your friends pulley off him.. How much does he want for it and what size ?
Here was his ad on the corral. It looks like he sold it last week.

Keep a eye out for RR and Vortech 8" pullies. They come up for sale from time to time. The 8" lower is a good upgrade in my opinion.

I hear that ! Im about to purchase the T-5 rebuild kit from G force, thats a $1,035 not including the new clutch along with the sturdier main shafts... Thats going to kill my pocket.
I ha d decent luck with one and I have a buddy with a 2.7 on a s-trim and it has worked great also.

Im sure this question has been asked a dozen plus times but how much boost can I get away with, with my setup ? out here in SF the octane is at 91, Shitty !! Im going to start putting in those bottles you can get at schucks/napa/kragens to compensate for the terrible octaine we have out here.. Do you guys think 12-15 lbs of boost non aircooled too much for my motor ?
Is it true that with the 8" crank pulley I will see more boost come into play a little earlier ?
Over your current pullies....yes. It should make more boost all through the rpm band. Vortech has a impeller speed calculator you can change the pulley sizes and engine rpm's to see how the impeller speed change.
