    Belt routing

on the fox body mustangs minus power steering, AC and smog pump, how does everyone route the accessory belt? i was looking at my set up and i don't think the accessory belt will hit the water pump from the alt and crank. can anyone tell me if i need an idler pulley on the passenger side to bring the belt aorund the water pump??? or have a picture with a link for this?? thanks in advance

This is mine, I use the FMS Smog delete however. I never seen one work without it.

I do it like this....using a ribbed 4 ccyl idler pulley on a welded 5.0 tensioner and rotate it to adjust belt tension. I also use a 93 Cobra W/P pulley

All you need is a ribbed pulley from a 4 cyl car, use the 5.0 Tensioner pulley bolt/spacers with the 4 cyl pulley.

I saw a similar set up on another stang that was working fine. They fabricated their own bracket though instead of the tensioner. It looks like it's easier to use the tensioner.

Hey saleen n around I have the same setup. except my belt keeps popping off, plus the volts and temp are getting affected due to the slip.

I tried it that way on my Paxton and I had all kinds of problems with the belt slipping on the alt.
There isnt enough belt on the alt pulley to properly charge my battery especially with the smog delete.
It would heat up the belt because of slipping and eventually it would break.
You can try it that way,it worked for some but not for me..
