procharger ???????????

What do you think about installing a non intercooled procharger on a 383 sbc with a compression of 10-1 ? It has all the good parts...steel crank...forged pistons...4bolt mains. My only concern is the compression. Would it be to risky with a 10-1 motor?:think:

I ran 23 pounds of boost non-intercooled on a 10.5:1 306. It was a drag only car, but I never had any engine problems with it. Just need some good gas and a good tune.

Thanks for the imput. Isnt 23lbs of boost dangerous bussiness lol? I contacted Procharger, and they say with a P1SC non intercooled unit, on a 10/1 compression, on pump gas, they only recommend 5 to 6 lbs of boost, and with good gas, no more than 12lbs of boost. Im assuming they are concerned about detonation. I dont want to have the same problems with a charger, that i have had in the past with the nitrous. If im gonna blow a motor, i'd rather blow it with nitrous, as its much cheaper :teeth:

With that much compression I would still run good gas with any amount of boost. Or I'd add some Torco accelorator to 93.

Go for it...It will make some serious power....just run good gas like mentioned earlier!:D
