I have a d1sc kit. I just changed some couplers and now when I put the clutch in to shift my engine revs/spikes/surges I don't know what to call it. I don't think I put the maf back indenticle to before but it's close. Do I need to retune it? I still have the stock junk bov. Should I change that peice?
Make sure the vacuum reference is still hooked up to the surge valve and the hose isn't cut, split, or pinched off. If all that is ok, the loosen the hose clamps at the MAF and rotate it slowly until the car starts running good again.
How much vacuum should I have at idle? I am pulling roughly 10-12 inchs at idle. I checked all my vacuum lines and all were good. The bypass is opening. My tubing is all jacked up anyhow so I am going to redo everthing and have the car retuned for the meantime till I get my AEM and start doing things myself.

Vacuum will vary depending on your cam. 10-12 sounds fine.
It should be around 19 with a stock cam and short block.
