a-trim upgraded to s-trim

hello i was wondering if anyone knew how they used to upgrade the a-trims to the s-trims back in the day.

i called vortech and they told me that they no longer do this upgrade but i was wondering how they did it so i could see if i could piece the stuff together and do it on my own. or if it would be too expensive and cost comparable to just buying a t-trim unit or so...
