Who's installed their own roll cage??

Will be doing my own install of the S & W 8 point kit. Anyone have any tip/tricks that they can offer me? Any special tools that make the job easier? I've got a small Mig & access to a larger Mig unit, grinder, sawsall. Any help greatly appreciated!!

    roll cage install

Make sure car is level when you start..A good chop saw makes it easy for the cuts..especially the angled ones...Oh!!!!paint before inst..then you only have to touch up where you welded..PIA to try to paint after inst..

Currently the motor is out of the car and the front end sits considerably higher w/o that weight, would this cause a concern or should I primarily be concerned with the vehicle being level side to side? the chop saw is on my list of tools to buy, along with an airbrush kit to touch up.

    Thanks again!!

If you haven't bought the S&W cage yet, dont buy it. Spend the $300.00 dollars on the Wild Rides cage and save yourself some headaches. The Wild Rides kit is the easiest cage I have ever installed. I put one in my friends car and it was perfect. No notching or cutting whatsoever. The fit was great and all of the bends are mandrel bent and perfect.

You will want to get the car up on its frame level. Don't let it set on the tires while doing this. Also, if you haven't, install sub frame connectors.

Already got the S&W kit sitting in my garage, sub-frames been on for a long time. Will level out as recommended by RSNovi. In the process of pulling the interior right now. Anyone know what size Torx bit the seat belt attachment are??

5150 LX : I do not know off hand but make sure you get the perfect fit. I removed my seats for the Corbeaus, and I destroyed the bolts quickly! I then tried to drill them out - did not work - so I had to cut the suckers off!

Some of those seat belt bolts in my car required an impact.
